When it rains...it pours!

...In more than one way!

Well, as many have already posted, this week brought some pretty devestating storms to some states...Nebraska was one of them. Thursday night was the first time in my life that I've gotten to experience the tornado sirens go off...not something that I wish to experience again, so we spent the night in the basement hanging out. We never had any tornadoes touch down here, but we had some pretty amazing lightening and the weirdest green skies you have ever seen! That night, it started to rain, and it continued to rain until Friday night. In less than 24 hours we received 7.70 inches of rain! It was crazy to see...it's like nothing I've ever experienced before!! This picture was taken just 3 blocks from our house...yikes! We are just glad that no major damage was done!

Have you ever had one of those weeks where everything seems to just go down hill? We just had that week! For starters, we had a leak in one of our pipes that started out as a slow drip...called the plumber, he came to look at it and would be back the next day to fix it. Well, over night, it worsened to a steady spray and there was a good amount of water in our laundry room, but the plumber fixed it...no big worries. Next, our suv is shaking all weird, so now we have to get it in and looked at before something really bad happens. And lastly, 7.7 inches of rain has to go somewhere, right? Well, some of it made it's way into our basement, causing our carpet to get saturated in one corner...not good!! So Christian and I spent our Friday night date sucking up water with a Rug Doctor...not your usual date nite date! Like I said...when it rains...it pours!!

But, a ray of sunshine in our patch of clouds was having my mom here. She flew in Monday, which is a whole other story, and flew out this morning, even another story! We had so much fun!! She helped me get some items checked off my house project to do list while she was here. We, well, mostly my mom, filled all the holes in the wall that were left by the previous owners and then painted Carson's room and the baby's room. We just painted the baby's room white (it was a cute yellow, but I wanted to change it), and painted 3 of the 4 walls in Carson's room white and did one tan accent wall to match the new comforter I got for his room. It turned out super cute! When all of our company is through coming, I'm planning on moving the crib (which is currently a toddler bed) into the nursery what has been the guest bed, into Carson's room. I can hardly stand to wait, though. I'm pretty excited to see what it will look like all finished. I'll post some pictures when it's all finsihed. We were so glad to have my mom come and were sad to see her leave. It was fun to get to spend some time just hanging out talking and laughing, since it was so nasty!!:) I'm sure I'll miss her even more when we go to put Carson to bed tonight...he was spoiled and slept with mema every night this week...it might be a fight to get him to sleep in his own bed again!!

All in all though, it was a great week, and this week looks promising too! Christian's mom and grandma are coming this week for a couple of days! We are pretty excited to see them. I just hope we have better luck with weather while they are here than when my mom was here!;)

I'm glad the rain has subdided--we had rain the whole way home today from Lovell to Laramie. Sheesh.
