A little of this and a Little of That

We had a great 4th of July. We didn't really have any plans for the day, but the night before you decided we would have a bbq and invite a couple famililes from our branch over. We had great food, good conversation, and fun with fireworks. We cooked burger and dogs, and I attempted to make Jan's baked beans for the first time...they turned out pretty good except my crock pot broke so I had to cook them in the oven...luckily I started them early enough to catch it! After dinner, we took our chairs to the front yard and watched the kids light off fireworks. Carson's favorite has to be sparklers...he was asking all day if he could go out and draw his name with them! About 10 we went to the baseball complex to watch the city's fireworks, and they were pretty good. It was all in all a great time.

Carson almost buring off Christian's leg hairs...not that burning some of them off wouldn't be so bad(just kidding)!

Christian had to work Friday morning and on his usual Friday run, he came across the tiniest turtle and brought it home for Carson. The turtle fit perfectly into his little palm. Christian had brought one home last month and we just let him go in the yard, not thinking that he would be able to get away...but he did. So, this time, we got a box and made him a little home complete with lettuce, and water...it was quite luxurious. Well, a couple of hours later, Carson and Christian went out to look at the turtle, or Francis, as Christian named him, and he was gone. Low and behold, this crazy little turtle had made his way out of the box and across the deck and was hiding out behind the grabage can. Christian picked it back up and put it in the box and put toothpicks through the wholes so the dang thing could get out. It was quite funny looking...it looked like the turtle was in prison! Before we knew it, the turtle had gotten 3 of the toothpicks out and was attempting to make his way out again...smart little guy! Well, over night he got out and we haven't seen him again. I guess we just weren't supposed to have a turtle as a pet, which is probably a good thing because we've been told that they carry salmonella! This way I don't have to worry about Carson touching it and not washing his hands!

I just wanted to share this picture. Carson has kind of been into superman recently and my mom had been wanting to get him a pair of superman pj's with a cape. Well, she couldn't find superman but found batman ones. Carson absolutely loves his "batban" jammies and would wear them all day if we let him. He wanted to wear them to story time the other day, but I wouldn't let him. These jammies have definatley brought out a side of him we've never seen! The boy is jumping off of everything he can, but it's pretty fun to see! Thanks a lot mema!!

Can you believe it? A.J. hated the sparklers and told his dad to 'turn them off.' Glad that Carson had fun!
