Thanksgiving Travel Log

Well, we are back from our trip to Wyoming. We left Tuesday afternoon to head home for Thanksgiving. We spent Tuesday night at Matthew and Charlene's house. It's always fun to go out to dinner with them and Michael and Emily and visit with everyone. Wednesday morning, Matthew got up and went to feed the animals at the State Vet Lab and took Carson and Christian with him. Carson had been so excited to see the sheep and buffalo, but when he actually got to see them, he was kind of freaked out. After they returned and we ate a yummy breakfast, everyone took off for home.

We made a pit-stop in Thermopolis. My dad and his brother purchased an existing grocery store last month and have transitioned it into another Blair's. So, we stopped to check it out.

Wednesday night and Thursday night we spent with Christian's family. Our Thanksgiving day was great. We started out at Mildred's (Christian's grandma) house for lunch, then ran to Jan's dad's for pie, and then to my families house for dinner. We ate way TOO much, but everything was too good not to!

Friday was the annual Asay family preg. testing day...always fun! Carson had the time of his life helping his dad with the cows. He loves being outside at the farm. After Christian was done helping, we packed up our stuff and headed to my mom's house for the rest of the weekend.

putting out the vibe!

Saturday night, we decided to celebrate Carson's birthday with the family. He will be 3 on Friday, but I thought it would be fun to have a party with all the family there. We had pizza and pop for dinner and cake and cheese cake for dessert. When I would ask Carson what he wanted for his birthday, all he would ever say is a tractor cake. Since I made him one last year, I found some cute farm candles and used those instead. He had a great b-day and was truely spoiled!

Sunday, we decided to only go half way and stayed in Cheyenne with our friends Greg and Janell. It was so much fun to visit and catch up with them. We had so much fun and were so sad to leave. It's hard to believe that we will be back again in 3 weeks for Christmas...my how time flies when you are having fun!

Carson + Corners = disaster!

I'm not quite sure why...but the only bad injuries Carson has ever gotten has taken place at church! A couple of months ago at a pot luck after church, a bunch of kids were running around outside and Carson collided with the corner of the church. He had a pea size puncture wound on the top of his head that bled like CRAZY...you know how head wounds are! He has a little scar on his head as a result. Well today, he and the other two little nursery kids were running around in the nursery room when SMACK...Carson hits his eye on the corner of the chalkboard...and it doesn't even have a pointy corner...go figure! The result was a very sad boy and this...

The boys went in to shower the other day and I thought it was taking them quite a while to get in. So, I went to the bathroom to investigate and this is what I found...they were shaving!

Junior Ninja!

Carson's newest fave...Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! He goes around all day with two swords in his shirt, one in his belt and the last couple of days...a hammer in his pocket! He is too funny for words! He's been practicing his sword fighting skills with his dad. They are pretty funny to watch. They get all the sound effects and fancy moves and all! Here's some pictures of his ninja ensemble!

Showing off his sweet ninja skills!
Notice the "horn hat" as he calls it and cowboy boots with the pants IN the boots!
P.S.
After quite a hiatis from potty training, Carson has started to show interest again. We are taking it slow, but at least he is started wanting to again! I guess it must be his new little potty we got him! What ever works!!

Bird Feeder

This Wednesday, we had Activity days for the kids in our branch. This week they made bird feeders out of acorn squash. I thought it was quite a cute idea, but would have been really fun to do in the summer when the birds are more abundant. Since only three kids showed up to participate, Carson got to make one too. He was pretty excited about hanging it in our tree. We haven't seen any birds eat out of it yet. I think we need to move it to a tree in the backyard...that seems to be where most of the birds hang out!

Firsts...

Well, these past couple of weeks, we have experienced some firsts in our family. For starters, Travis slept through the night (11/8) for the first time...woo hoo! The sad thing is that I had to get up early that morning so I didn't quite get to enjoy the pleasure of it! Oh well!

Travis also had his first MAJOR blow-out (of his diaper)! I mean up to his neck and down to his ankles...MAJOR! Up to this point, we haven't had any really bad ones...just a couple little ones out the side. Enough about poo...on to another first. (sorry if that was too much info.!)

The snowball fight

Monday (11/10) we had our first "real"snow. I say "real" because a week before, it spit snow for about a minute, but nothing stuck to the ground. We didn't get much, but it was enough to cover everything! The flakes were ginormous and were really wet...making it perfect for snowballs! Carson was so excited about it and HAD to go out and play in it.

Travis has a new love...his vibrating chair! He sits in it, gets so excited and smiles at the little hanging animals! It is so cute and he totally enjoys it!

Check-up!

Travis had his 2 month check-up today. He now weighs 12 pounds 3.5 ounces and is 24 inches long! He's just barely above average in all the categories...yay for Travis!! The downer to the visit was the shots! He got two routine shots and then an extra one (not sure the name) that's supposed to help with ear infections and some other things. I just have to say that I hate shots. I could never be a nurse and have to give shots to children...I would cry! Anyways, he was pretty darn sad when he got them, but he took a good nap. They didn't seem to bother him until about 4, when he woke up. Every time he moved his poor little legs, he would scream bloody murder! I have never heard him scream like that and he did it for an hour straight!! I'm just so glad that Christian was home with me so he could help out. Travis was screaming which made Carson sad, which made mom sad too! But, seems to be better now. Thank goodness for baby drugs!

His bruise from the stinking shot...mean ol' nurse!

Posing in his swing...what a stud!(he must get it from his dad)

"I have to go work hard!"

One of Carson's favorite sayings is "I have to go work hard." He loves going to help anyone he can...whether it's chasing cows, working out in the yard, or fixing something, he is always eager to "work". Saturday, one of Christian's farmers was harvesting a test plot and asked him to come out. He decided to take Carson with him, and man was Carson in heaven...he got to go to work with his dad and he got to go ride on a tractor. It doesn't get any better than that! When I asked him what he was going to go do with this dad, he told me that he was going to talk to guys, look at corn, and look at beans (which is what he always says when you ask him what his daddy is doing for work). It was pretty cute! Here are some pics from their day together.
Playing with an ear of corn.

Jumping from the tire.

Getting down after riding on the combine.

...What hard work does to a little boy! So tired!

This is quite funny. Last night Christian and Carson were putting some faces on monsters in a sticker book that he got from story time in his room. I was feeding Travis in the living room when they came storming out of the room down on all fours, snorting and grunting. They stopped in front of me and pretended to ram heads. When they looked up at me and this is what I saw...

They had put stickers from the book on their noses to look like rhinos! Crazy kids!Their monster faces!
