Travis' Blessing

This weekend we blessed Travis and were so lucky to have lots of family make the trip in not so great weather down here. The weekend started with the arrival of my parents Friday night. Saturday we got up finished cleaning and getting food ready for the next two days. While my mom and I were cooking and cleaning, Christian and my dad put up a clock. I have a hugely tall wall in my entry way that needed something to fill it. I had talked about finding a large clock to put there. My mom saw a huge one in a furniture store and thought of my wall. It looks SO good...I love it!! It took a few extra holes to get it just right, but they got it nonetheless.

Saturday afternoon, my grandparents arrived from Arizona and Christian's parents, Matthew and Charlene and Michael, Emily and Stetson followed that evening. We barbequed steaks and just sat around talking. We had a fun night laughing...to the point of crying...and telling stories. Sunday, we all (10 of us...1 shower) managed to get ready 30 minutes BEFORE church started with hot water to spare! I was rather amazed. We arrived at church to the sound of the tornado warning sirens going off. Come to find out, there was just a malfunction in the system. We got to church early and we warned everyone that if we got there too early, someone would be asked to give a talk. Well, everyone was safe because it was fast Sunday in our branch, but Stan did get snagged to say the closing prayer. The blessing was so good. Christian did a wonderful job. I'm so greatful for a husband that holds and honors the priesthood. Most everyone was leaving pretty early due to bad roads and long trips, so we left after Sacrament so we could eat before everyone had to leave. Everyone but my parents left around 1. It was so much fun to have everyone here. We are so blessed to have such wonderful famililes and are so glad that they got to come!
The ever talented Matthew...can you believe that!

New furniture

Ever since we moved into our house, I have been wanting to get some new furniture for our up stairs. We have a matching sofa and loveseat that we have had split up...one upstairs, one down...since we moved in and anytime we had people over, there really hasn't been enough room. Ever so often I would go and look at the furniture stores here, but never really found anything that I liked. I decided that since we were going to have quite a bit of family here this weekend for Travis' blessing that it was time to get serious about finding something so we had a place to sit everyone. A couple of weeks ago I went and looked at one of the stores and found one that I liked. I took Christian over and had him look at it and he liked it too. I shopped around, as much as I could around here, and didn't see anything I liked better. So...now, we have furniture upstairs...and I love it!!

1 Month Check up

So...I'm really behind this week on my postings. On Monday, Travis had his 1 month check up. He weighed 9 pounds 13 ounces! He has gained almost a pound a week since we came home from the hospital (we was 6 pounds 3 ounces when we left)! Christian is convinced that he is going to be a fat kid!! All the weight is going straight to his cute little face...it just gets rounder and rounder, but it's so dang cute! He has started making the fun little noises babies do and smiling a little more consistantly! He's getting to be a lot more fun now that he is starting to interact a little more.

Pumpkin Patch Fun

Yesturday we were invited to a birthday party for a little guy that is about Carson's age. We started out at the pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins, then went to the park to play, and then to a bbq. It was fun to watch a bunch of little kids struggle throught the pumpkin vines to find their perfect pumpkins. We plan to go back again and pick out a few more pumpkins to carve. I'm kind of sad though...last year they had a cute little hay ride that we got to ride on out to the pumpkin patch, but this year they don't have it. Their pumpkins were right close so we just had to walk to it. It was still fun!

Tulips and Snake Wrangling

When we bought the house last fall, we knew that there were some sort of flowers planted on one side of our house, but didn't know what we would find. This spring, we were surprised to find tulips, amoungst other flowers. I love tulips and decided to plant some more. The fall is supposed to be the prime time to plant them. Today Christian and Carson planted my bulbs for me. I just hope they actually grow!

While Christian was planting my bulbs, I went to the shed to get the hose so we could water them when we were finished putting them in the ground. I opened the door and to my surprise, there was a nice little guarder snake all curled up in the corner enjoying the warmth of the shed. I went and got Christian and he wrangled the stinking snake out of the shed and threw it over the fence and almost into the neighbor's yard. This will be the last day I will venture into the shed without any shoes on!

Travis hung out with us too...he was great help!

Too cute!

Home again, home again...jiggity, jig!

A couple of weeks ago, we found out that Christian's family was going to be bringing calves home from Dry Head last weekend. We tossed around the idea of heading home to see everyone, but really couldn't make a decision on whether we should go or not. Last Sunday we finally decided we were going to go. Christian told me that we should either go home or he was going to go to Kansas City to a NASCAR race. So, of course, I chose to go home. We left here at 9:30 Thursday night...something I don't suggest doing...and got to Laramie about 1:30 Friday morning. We stayed the night with Matthew and Charlene and then Friday made the rest of the way home. We went and watched Jared's homecoming football game and Jacob march in the marching band Friday night. Saturday, we all went up into Dry Head to help bring the calves home. Well, I should clarify...Christian helped and I sat around and talked. It was fun to be with everyone. It was so beautiful up there. I love all the changing trees! Saturday night, we went and stayed in Powell with my family. Sunday, Christian had to go back and help get more cows, and I went to church with my family. That evening we had a huge turkey dinner...yummy and played cards. Monday we started our way back to Nebraska after seeing all the grandma's. We stayed with Matthew and Charlene again that night and went the rest of the way back home Tuesday after a stop in Cheyenne to do a little shopping. It was so much fun to see everyone! I love being at "home" with family. We sure do miss being close to them. Luckily, we get to see everyone again in two weeks when everyone is coming down here for Travis' blessing.
