It's a...

On Monday, I got to go in for my ultrasound, and keeping up the Asay tradition, we found out that we are having another little BOY! We are pretty excited. Christian says that it is impossible for an Asay to produce a girl, and I'm starting to believe it. I guess when ever Michael and Emily decide to have another one we'll see if they can break the pattern. Everything checked out just wonderful...our little guy has all of his necessary organs! It is always so much fun to be able to see the little person growing inside of you. I love ultrasounds. I just wish that the hospital here had one of the cool 3-D machines. My brother's wife has some pretty fun ultrasound pictures of thier daughter that they had done in Powell, Wy on one of those machines. My doctor decided to move my due date back to September 10 instead of the 5th. Not much difference but she decided to go with my calculations than with what the ultrasound was saying. Now it's my task to find a name that isn't already taken by an Asay...there are some many Asay boys...almost all the good names are taken! As long as I don't have to name him Winston (that's what Christian says we need to name him), I'm alright!

Weekend away!

This weekend was our stake conference in Kearney, NE. It's about 2 hours away, so we decided to make a weekend out of it and went down Saturday and stayed the night. While Christian was in meetings, Carson and I did some shopping...and found some great deals! After Christian was done, we went and ate at a Whiskey Creek bbq place. It's a lot like Texas Roadhouse...throw the peanuts on the floor sort of place...and was really yummy! After dinner, we took Carson swimming. We were told that this hotel had the best heated pool in Kearney, but I think they lied to us!! The pool was freezing...and if this one was the best...I'd hate to see what the other pools felt like! So, needless to say, we spent the whole time in the hot tub. After swimming, we went to our room and went to sleep. Today we enjoyed a really good stake conference. We got a new Stake President, who happened to be from our branch here in McCook, so that was kind of cool! All in all, it was a nice weekend away before Christian gets really busy...his farmers start planting corn this week, so from here on out...I'm pretty much a widow!

Oh the simple things in life!

I was looking through some pictures the other night, and it made me realize how greatful I am to be a mom. I got to thinking, before I had Carson, when was the last time I picked up a worm and thought "Cool!" (probably a long time...worms are gross)! Having a kid has made me greatful for all the simple things in life and makes me appreciate all the amazing and enjoyable little things...we are truely blessed. Simple things such as listening to a train pass by, or crunching a leaf in your hand, or:

squishing mud between your toes,Running your hand through a patch of blooming flowers,Letting water from a hose give you a "shower",

and holding a worm in your hand.

I am so greatful that I get to enjoy all these things and many more in life and enjoy them with the ones I love the most. Gordon B. Hinckley said it best:

"In all of living have much fun and laughter. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured."

Tis' the Season!

This weekend was GORGEOUS! It was well into the 80's Saturday and Sunday...which made for an awesome weekend. Friday night, we decided to go with some friends to the stock car races here in McCook with the rest of the rednecks from Nebraska...just kidding (but not really). These are like the social events of the week during the summer and is quite the mullet fest! A couple of the farmers Christian works with race so it's kind of fun to go and watch them. I shouldn't be so judgemental because they are actually quite fun to attend. If you've never been to one it's quite the experience to sit in the bleachers and actually feel the cars roar by. It's pretty fun to attend everyonce in a while...especially if there are some good wrecks!

Saturday, we decided it would be a good day to organize our garage and storage room since when we moved things just kind of got thrown on the shelves. We didn't quite get through the garage because Christian had to leave and go help a member of our branch move. After he got back, we planted what we've been told are "cool weather" things (carrots, peas & radishes)in our garden. As you can tell, I/we aren't very savvy at this whole gardening thing...I don't even know what to call the seeds! This is our first year actually planting a garden, so I'm pretty excited about it. I love, love, love fresh garden tomatoes! Once I finally got all the bark raked up, Christian hauled it to the dumpster, layed the soaking hose, dug the holes, and then we all planted the seeds. It will be fun to see the seeds grow...I'm pretty excited...if you can't tell. Here in a while we'll finish planting the rest of our garden.

Hopefull this nice weather is here to stay. We are SO ready for it to be warm outside!

Half an Asay brother reunion

Well, for any of you who have read Emily's blog, you pretty much already got the details of our fun weekend. For those of you who haven't, Christian's brothers, Michael and Matthew, Michael's wife, Emily, and their son, Stetson made their way to Nebraska to visit us for the weekend. It was so much fun to have them here! The weather wasn't very nice so we spent lots of time inside talking, playing cards, laughing and eating. We attempted to try out what we have been told is the best pizza ever in a little town named Indianola, about 10 miles away, but found out when we got there that they only serve it during their dinner hours...bummer! It was so much fun to have them in our home...we sure miss being around all our family!!

Ah the memories...reminiscing about highschool

Hanging out with his favorite uncle Matthew

Everyone squished in the car for the ever exciting tour of McCook

You can't see it very well, but Matthew had styled both of the boys' hair to look like his...the famous Matthew Asay front spike!

Fuzzy waz a Bear

Ever since I've know Christian, he has had some sort of facial hair. The very first time I met him, we were at a party in college and he had a full beard. Needless to say, he looked older and I thought to myself...what is this weird old guy doing at a college party? Since we've been married, I think Christian has shaved his entire face only twice. Well, last night he got a wild hair (he, he, he) and decided to shave it all off. Here is the transformation. I think he's scared none of the farmers he works with are going to recognize him...they've never seen him with a clean-shaven face before! I would like to be there when they see him this week before it grows all back!

Carson didn't quite know what to think of his dad's new look. I think the last time Christian shaved like this was when he was a newborn. He keeps asking his dad where his mustache is and keeps patting his cheecks. If I was Carson, I would be more worried about when it starts to grow out and his dad wisker burns him while they are wrestling than where his mustache went! OUCH!

Okay...I've decided to finally take the plunge into the world of potty training boys. We finally bought a little tushie toilet yesturday and some Diego underwear ( Carson's current favorite) and tried it out. Carson was quite intersted in his new potty that I decided I would take off the diaper and slip on some undies. Well, in the hour we tried it, he wet through all three pair of underwear...ugh! So, I'm looking for some suggestions on how to jump start potty training...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! One good thing... he didn't like the feeling of wet underwear...so at least I have that going for me!

Trip to Denver/Wyoming

Well, now that I have finally tackled my huge mound of laundry, I can justify updating my blog. We got back Sunday from a week long exursion to Denver and then Wyoming. Last Friday, Christian, Carson and I made the 5 hour trip to attend the Denver temple. Christian and I got to go through and do a session, thanks to another family in our branch who were so willing to lend their kids (and husband...he brought the wrong reccomend to the temple so he couldn't go in) to watch Carson while we went. It had been a while so it was nice. After our session, we got to go and help the youth in our branch do baptisms, which is the real reason we went to the temple (I'm in the Young Womens). They did an awesome job. We had 9 kids attend and each of them did 50 baptisms...so that's 450 baptisms in all!! They were troopers! After the temple, we went and ate at the Olive Garden. All I can say is yummy! We spent Friday night in a hotel in Denver and then Saturday we went to the Denver Zoo. Here are some highlights from our day there. We were just glad that the weather cooperated with us and it was actually quite pleasant. As soon as Carson sat on this monkey sculpture, he proceeded to pick it's nose. It was quite hilarious! As you can tell, he thought it was pretty funny too! After the zoo, we made our way to Laramie where we met up with my mom who took Carson and I back to Powell for a week. We had fun seeing everyone while we were there. Some highlights of our trip included: swimming at the rec center in Cody, eating at El Tapatio & Maxwells, shopping in Billings, seeing my brother's new baby girl (there's nothing better than holding a newborn), checking cows with Grampa Asay, looking for eggs, and playing Hungry, Hungry Hippos, just to name a few things. Saturday my mom and Jan (Christian's mom) took Carson and I back to Laramie where we met up with Christian. That night we went out to eat with Michael, Emily and Stetson, and Matthew and his girlfriend Charlene, along with some other friends. After dinner, we went to the hotel and swam...fun times! Sunday morning we went and said good bye to Michael and Emily and my mom picked Jan up (she stayed at their house) and then went our separate ways. We had a BLAST and wish it hadn't gone by so fast. We are so blessed to have such wonderful family! We love them all and wish we didn't live so stinkin' far away!!
